With the future of the postponed 6ix is Real concert uncertain, ticket holders have the option of getting a refund, the event promoters say. The Squash-associated concert, originally advertised for March 29, at Sabina Park in Kingston, was denied permits after police reported that there was an upsurge in violence in the area. However, popular party series, East, unfolded at the venue on Friday, despite the police's statement.

Speaking to The STAR, the concert organiser, who goes by the name 'One Time Music', said his team is finalising a new concert date and it will be released this week.

"Some decisions haven't been made as yet so there are certain things I cannot say right now, but I want to just ask everyone to look out for information on the new concert date this week @6ixisrealja Instagram page," he said. "In terms of the tickets, the money is still at the outlets, so if people do decide that they want a refund and the tickets aren't bent or anything, they can go back to the outlets and get their money," he added.

Concert not being held in Montego Bay

He also confirmed that the event was initially postponed as no permits were granted, but he was tight-lipped about whether his team has since received the go-ahead from the police.

Social media has been buzzing since Squash, who hails from Montego Bay, St James, announced that he would make his first major performance at the concert. This followed his January release from a near six-month lock-up, after he was arrested during the state of emergency in his home parish last year. News of the concert was met with both excitement and criticism, as some fans questioned the decision to stage the concert in a foreign parish.

The deejay's manager, Junior 'Heavy D' Fraser, was unable to state the reasoning behind the decision to hold the event in Kingston.

"I'm not sure because I wasn't there when that conversation was being had. I don't know their original plan on where it should or shouldn't be held, I just hear dem saying dem a go keep a show," Fraser told The STAR.

Interestingly, Fraser said the police would not have granted a permit for the event to be held in Montego Bay.

"The police not going to give a permit for a show in Montego Bay for Squash. The promoters are still having a problem with the police and permits, so even if they wanted to keep it in Montego Bay now the police won't give him a permit for a show like that there," he said.

When asked if he believes the denial of permits is linked to the deejay's previous lock-up, Fraser responded: "I don't really know what is the problem, but dem just not giving out any permits."

When contacted by The STAR, the Corporate Communications Unit of the Jamaica Constabulary Force was unable to give details surrounding the matter. Calls to the Head of the St Andrew Central Police, Senior Superintendent Jacqueline Green, also proved futile.
