Krvcial GGOD seeks new lease on life
He has been recording music since 1997 and has a host of singles under his belt, but dancehall artiste Krvcial GGOD is reintroducing himself, declaring that he has a new lease on his career.
He recently signed a management deal with Bramma GGOD's record label and is now working on his debut mixtape, titled Rocket.
"Back then, I wasn't taking my career seriously. I wasn't doing road and performing on many shows, but now, me tek it serious, and me want to take it to another level and turn it up a notch," he told the WEEKEND STAR.
"I want people to gravitate to the mixtape, listen, and like it, and I'll see where it goes from there. It is my first body of work, nobody nuh really have no CD for me, so me just a provide the fans with some good music and let them know seh Krvcial still deh here a do it."
The set is expected to host no more than 20 tracks and will feature the title track, which Krvcial says is gaining favour in the United Kingdom. He added that fans can expect a fusion of genres, true to his own style.
Given name Germaine Rowe, the Kingstonian fell in love with dancehall as a teenager, often remixing lyrics from artistes like Bounty Killer and Mad Cobra before recording his debut track, Sign Off, in 1997.
Without much acclaim, Krvcial resorted to a nine-to-five, working in the delivery department at Cari-Med Limited. He yearned to pursue music full-time and gained the opportunity in 2008 after reuniting with his childhood friend, Bramma. The latter established GGOD Records in January, signing Krvcial as the first act.
"The job did hinder me from putting out the amount of music me want to do, so me just cut it off and pick up the music full-force," he said. "I was independent before, and having this management is better because I have more musical freedom and can just go off my own energy and do my thing."
Mixtape work aside, he is working on new music and encouraged fans to be on the lookout.
"My love for music is undeniable, and me know me haffi make it. Me have too much musical influences 'round me to just give it up, and that will always motivate me to continue."
