Dancehall singjay Starface insists she is not condoning gun violence in a 'viral video' for her latest single Badman Lovin'.

In the visuals released this week, Starface and Maestro Don play Bonnie and Clyde with handguns and high-powered rifles, as she professes her love for her 'gunman', and plays her part in being his equal between the sheets and on the battlefield.

For Starface, it is just a mirror of what happens in some parts of the society.

"Every artiste reflects the society that they live in but they also entertain. All the guns are props and the extras are all actors; don't read anything more into it than that," she told WEEKEND STAR. "Starface doesn't condone gun violence but this scene could play itself out in any ghetto where wanted thugs and sexy women party and have a good time. This video is about exhibitionism, freaky sex, attractive gangstas, and the women who love and rate them. It is not for everyone, this is just entertainment."

As some of her contemporaries have done in the past, the Whine Up artiste is not claiming any influence on ongoing crime in Jamaica as a result of messages of criminality in songs like Badman Lovin'.

"Jamaica will always have an ongoing issue with crime for reasons that have nothing to do with entertainment. We will always have gun violence but there are no shots fired or people being killed in the video. It just projects the idea that every woman, regardless of income, age or education, needs 'badman loving'," she said.

She said that whether people admit it or not, women like bad boys or thugs.

BAD MAN LOVING

"They want men who can defend them and who are natural leaders who can command them, rough them up a little and control dem. Remember Jamaicans are descendants of bad slaves and ruthless slave owners so a bad man loving mi body and mi brain want," she said.

Speaking of loving, the video has also left tongues wagging about a possible love affair between Starface and Maestro Don, as they have also collaborated in the past ( Ride It) with steamier scenes.

Starface summed it up as chemistry.

"Me like rebellious and exciting men who break all the rules, bad boys who know fi have a good time. Me and him (Maestro) a gwaan flick right now but mi no know what the future hold; mi head mad and a man haffi come good fi crawl up inna my brain," she said.
