Nardo 'RT Boss' Smith, the operator of the online psychic reading and counselling service RT Family Gone Global Inc, made his music debut last month after claiming he received his musical calling, although he had never considered being in the industry.

"I got a prophecy to myself in March that from now until December, I will be a popular figure based on my music and I will be on the charts and me have number ones fi get," spiritual adviser-turned-artiste RT Boss told THE STAR.

"Being a psychic gives me an advantage as I see myself winning. I wanna do a collaboration with Nicki Minaj. Me waan get the Grammy and I'm going to get it cause I see it in the future as well."

The 32-year-old is based in New York, United States, where he formed the business in 2014. He advertises helping people with their problems through the 'Heavenly Father' whom he referred to as Jesus Christ and God. Despite this, he has chosen to pursue dancehall music instead of gospel.

"I would like to say I am a man who believes in God. It's not like I am a Christian-Christian, but I strongly believe in endorsing the word to someone who needs it and uplift them," said RT Boss, who was formerly called Real Talk.

"I feel my role is just about advising, uplifting, encouraging and bringing forth messages in the form of music, excitement and fun. I ventured into dancehall cause when I look at the realm of spirituality, some of it can cross over into Satanism or witchcraft, and me nuh want be a part of that."

He seems to have struck this balance with his first release, Badmind Friend, a dancehall track infused with revival music. The song was produced by his RT Records label. Another single, Global Boom, echoes this jubilant feel which, Smith explained, is influenced by his upbringing in a revival church.

Inborn gift

A graduate of Central High School in Clarendon, Smith said that he always had an affinity for music but had an inborn gift to help others through his clairvoyance.

"I can tap into people's energy and go in the future, so I decided to take it up and use it to make an honest bread," he said. "Many Jamaican people call it obeah, but we in the US call it psychic reading. I have an online show where you call and I read you for free. If the reading is accurate and you like what I am saying, then you book your appointment."

RT Boss said that he will continue his practice, and added there should be no challenges in switching professional hats.

"My job as a psychic allows me to read anywhere in the world. Me can just come off a stage show and read, so it's like me can carry me two jobs anywhere," he said.

In addition to foreseeing a successful music career, RT Boss wants to use his position to help others.

"If Jamaica buss me, then me help back the community. Call me the charity artiste," he said. "If me a get $10, $2 going back to the inner-city community. That is my whole agenda. Me start already cause me start pay people school fee, send people a hospital, give weh phone and pay people mortgage under the umbrella of my company, and me have evidence to show it."
